Council of Governments

About the Organization
The Susquehanna County Council of Governments (COG) is a voluntary association of local government units (township supervisors, borough council persons) that joined together under a written contract to provide service, improve cooperation, coordination, planning, and reduce costs for their respective municipalities.

The COG was formed to provide code enforcement of local ordinances, state and federal laws, provide for joint purchasing, providing services that individual municipalities would otherwise have to perform on their own. COG does not establish any laws or ordinance. They only enforce local, state, and federal laws that are enacted by their respective source.

Benefits

COG provides a means to improve efficiency by having one central location for all administration of the services they provide while retaining control.

Training

The sewage enforcement offices and building code inspectors and officials have all been trained and certified. All attend continuous education and re-certification as required by law.
